The National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL) reported that, to date, ten hydroelectric plants have been authorized to participate in the Capacity Reserve Auction, scheduled to take place on June 27. Together, these plants represent an increase of 4.275 MW of power to the national electrical system.
The most recent project approved is the Três Marias hydroelectric plant (396 MW), owned by Cemig Geração e Transmissão, located on the São Francisco River, in the municipality of Três Marias, Minas Gerais. This plant can be expanded by 163 MW of power to the system.

- Engineer Sergio Motta (Porto Primavera/PR)
The Capacity Reserve Auction in the form of Power (LRCAP 2025) will be used to contract existing thermoelectric projects and expand the capacity of hydroelectric plants. For hydroelectric plants, supply is scheduled to begin on July 1, 2030, with contracts lasting 15 years.
Power contracting is essential to increase the flexibility of the electrical system's operation and ensure that peak consumption levels are met in the late afternoon, when solar generation stops operating. The current load ramp is 35 GW, and could reach 50 GW in 2028.
According to ANEEL, companies interested in participating in LRCAP 2025 must register their projects with EPE (Energy Research Company) by 12:14 pm on February 2025, XNUMX.
