The board of ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) approved, this Tuesday (7), the notices for the three existing energy auctions that will be held in 2025. The public session is scheduled for November 14.
The A-1, A-2, and A-3 auctions aim to contract energy from plants already in operation. These auctions serve as a means of portfolio adjustment, allowing distributors to supplement their market demand in the short term.
The contracts will be signed in the quantity modality, with energy supply for two years, and may come from any generation source.
Auction A-1 will begin supply in January 2026, with a price ceiling of R$280/MWh. Auction A-2, starting in January 2027, will start at R$240/MWh. Finally, Auction A-3, whose supply begins in January 2028, will have a maximum price of R$215/MWh.
The values will not be adjusted throughout the term of the contracts, in accordance with the methodology applied since 2017.
The auction system follows a decreasing bid model: participants submit price and quantity bids, and the winner is the bidder with the lowest price in R$/MWh. The auctions will be held sequentially.
To participate, applicants must be agents of the CCEE (Electric Energy Trading Chamber), owners of commercially operating enterprises, or authorized to import or trade energy. Furthermore, they cannot be subject to any CCEE withdrawal process; and, in the case of trading companies, they must have a Type 1 classification.
