A ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) transferred R$ 15 million to CCEE (Electric Energy Commercialization Chamber) on Wednesday (400) to cover the tariff discounts granted to consumers benefiting from the social tariff.
MP (Provisional Measure) 950/2020, published by the Federal Government last week, determined a 100% discount on tariffs for the portion of electricity consumption of up to 220 kWh/month for beneficiaries of the social tariff. Furthermore, it authorized the Union to transfer resources to cover these discounts due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
In parallel, MP No. 949 was also published, which added to the budget of ANEEL extraordinary credit of R$900 million and determined that the agency would contribute this resource to the CDE (Energy Development Account) to subsidize the authorized discounts.
In negotiations with CCEE, manager of the CDE Account, ANEEL divided the transfer into three monthly installments, the first of which will be R$400 million paid on Wednesday, the second installment will be paid in May in the amount of R$250 million and the last installment in the amount of R$250 million will be paid in June.
