Banco do Brasil and Eletrobras signed a carbon credit agreement, which involves the use of credits generated by the Rio Teles Pires plant, located on the border between the states of Pará and Mato Grosso. The hydroelectric plant has the capacity to supply a population of 13,5 million inhabitants with clean energy.
In this partnership, the financial institution mediated the purchase of 992 tons of carbon credits generated by the plant, to offset greenhouse gases emitted by the Brasilseg Insurance Company.
The business relationship with Eletrobras also includes sales in the Free Energy Market for the bank's customers. For Eletrobras, the partnership represents the expansion of its sales channels nationwide, across a broad spectrum.
"The partnership with Banco do Brasil reinforces our customer-centric strategy, expanding our portfolio of sustainable products and solutions, far beyond simply offering energy contracts," says Ivan Monteiro, president of Eletrobras.
