Brazil added 1.400,21 MW to its electricity grid in September, exclusively from renewable sources. According to data from ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency), 27 plants entered into commercial operation in the month, including 17 solar plants, eight wind plants, one hydroelectric plant and one small hydroelectric plant.
With this advance, the accumulated expansion for the year reached 5.921,34 MW until the end of September. The total involves 97 plants, with emphasis on thermoelectric plants (2.468,05 MW), solar plants (1.718,35 MW) and wind plants (1.506,40 MW), in addition to small and large hydroelectric plants.
The new plants are distributed across 17 states. Year-to-date, the largest increases came from Rio de Janeiro (1.672,60 MW), Bahia (980,20 MW), and Rio Grande do Norte (657,25 MW). In September, Ceará led the monthly expansion with 515,95 MW, followed by Rio Grande do Norte with 373,77 MW.
The country's total fiscal power reached 214.723,8 MW on October 1. Of this total, 84,37% comes from renewable sources, according to SIGA (Generation Information System). ANEEL).
“Renewable expansion reflects technological evolution and the sector’s commitment to diversifying the electricity matrix,” highlighted the ANEEL in note.
More details about the expansion can be accessed on the RALIE panel, an interactive tool from ANEEL which monitors the implementation of new plants based on periodic inspections and reports from the sector.
