O Brazil surpassed, early this Thursday morning (12), the mark of 24 GW of operational capacity in solar energy plants, according to data of ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency).
The number takes into account the power installed in the country by power systems. GD (distributed generation) and by power plants GC (centralized generation) – which already add up 16,64 GW and 7,38 GW, respectively.
O new landmark was reached less than 20 days after technology surpassed 23 GW, on December 26.
In January last year, the market totaled just over 13 GW, which shows that the solar source was responsible for adding 11 GW to the country in the last twelve months.
Forecasts
to 2023, ABSOLAR (Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy) assesses that more than 10 GW of power will be added in Brazil, reaching a Accumulated total of over 34 GW by the month of December.
The new investments generated by the sector must exceed R$50 billion this year, with room for creating more than 300 thousand jobs in all regions of the country.
Until the end of the yearNear 21,6 GW must come from own generation systems, While 12,4 GW must be added from the large power plants.
