Our last days, the release for commercial operation of new power plants centralized generation by the ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) caused the solar energy surpassed the mark of 30 GW of operational capacity in Brazil.

In total, there are already around 30,4 GW accumulated since the beginning of the expansion of the source in the country, adding both the volumes accounted for by enterprises large-sized as for hair systems micro and mini generation distributed.

According to the Agency, since the beginning of the year, solar energy has grown about 20% in Brazil, jumping from 25,2 GW in the first week of January to the current 30,4 GW.

in the segment of distributed micro and minigeneration, are 21,05 GW of installed power, with more than 1,93 million connections recorded since the beginning of the expansion of solar sources in the country.

Already the large power plants today they have 9,34 GW of power in operation, with just over 18,1 thousand enterprises. The segment also has more than 107 GW planned to come into operation through plants that are in the construction phase or have not yet started.

To Rodrigo SauaiaCEO of ABSOLAR (Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy), the growth of Solar energy strengthens Brazil's sustainability and international protagonism, in addition to easing family budgets and increasing the competitiveness of national productive sectors.

“The solar source is a lever for the social, economic and environmental development of the country. In particular, we have an immense opportunity to use technology in social programs, helping to reduce government spending on electricity so that they have more resources to invest in health, education, public safety and other societal priorities”, he commented.
