The CCEE (Electric Energy Commercialization Chamber) reported that it has completed the first two consumer migration processes to the Free Energy Market using the new simplified model for retail.
The solution, which uses API (Application Programming Interface) technologies, allows companies – located in Acre and São Paulo – to complete all necessary migration steps in a practical and automated manner.
"Both clients will be officially integrated into the free environment starting January 1, 2026, marking an important step forward for the future of the sector and reaffirming CCEE's commitment to modernizing the business environment," the agency reported.
The new simplified model was launched on July 1st, with the aim of establishing a faster way to exchange information between the Chamber itself and retail traders, replacing manual interactions and reducing the possibility of errors and operational costs.
The new system allows consumers to migrate to the Free Energy Market, monitor consumption measurement data in real time, edit records, disconnect retailers, suspend supply, return customers to the regulated market, and change the consumer's representative at the CCEE, if necessary.
"With this initiative, the organization is ready to facilitate the opening of the free energy market to all consumers in the country, including residential consumers," highlights the CCEE.
Growth of the Free Energy Market
Between January and May 2025, CCEE migrated almost 12 thousand consumers, a volume that represents a 33,3% increase compared to the same period last year.
In total, there are already 76.673 consumer units in this environment – where it is possible to choose your own supplier, the type of source, purchase energy on demand and freely negotiate terms and contract models, conditions that guarantee personalized service, in addition to the possibility of savings.
“The vast majority of these new consumers are small and medium-sized businesses, such as offices, bakeries, pharmacies and supermarkets,” CCEE reported.
With Provisional Measure 1.300/25, published by the MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy), there is great potential for growth in the coming years, as the MP provides for a gradual opening to low voltage from August 2026, also benefiting homes.
"CCEE is prepared for this revolution, investing in technological infrastructure and simplifying customer registration and management processes through APIs," the entity highlighted.
