In search of cost reduction and sustainability, the city of Campinas (SP) and CPFL Paulista signed, this Thursday (8), a cooperation agreement for the implementation of an energy efficiency project that will benefit hospitals in the region. The program consists of the installation of photovoltaic plants and the replacement of 24 thousand lamps with LED models in the units of the Mário Gatti Network.

In total, the investment is R$5,2 million and will generate annual savings in energy tariffs of R$1,3 million for the public coffers. Furthermore, the Ministry reported that solar plants will also be built at the Ouro Verde hospital, SAMU and the UPAS São José, Campo Grande, Carlos Lourenço and Anchieta-Metropolitana.

Construction work began today (9) at UPA São José and is expected to be completed in four days. Work will then begin at the other units. “This is an important project for the Mário Gatti Network, especially because, at this time of the pandemic, healthcare spending is very high, requiring ever greater investment from municipalities. Savings on energy bills will allow us to expand the provision of services to the population,” said Mayor Dário Saadi.

Roberto Sartori, CEO of CPFL Paulista, also commented on this initiative and highlighted that the savings generated in the electricity bill will allow for the purchase of equipment and supplies in healthcare units. “The program is important because it allows hospitals to be financially viable by saving energy, especially at this time of the pandemic,” Sartori highlighted.

According to Renato Povia, director of Strategy and Innovation at CPFL Energia, the company is investing R$150 million in hospitals in the project this year, in its concession area, with Campinas receiving the majority of the resources, R$11 million. .
