Carrefour Brasil Group has signed a long-term contract worth R$1 billion with Casa dos Ventos for the self-production of solar energy. The agreement is considered one of the largest ever signed by a retailer in the country under this model and will guarantee the equivalent of 25% of the company's total electricity consumption.
The energy will be supplied by the Paraíso Photovoltaic Complex, which is under construction in Mato Grosso do Sul. The project will have a total installed capacity of 640 MW, with 240 MW exclusively dedicated to the group's operations, which includes brands such as Atacadão, Carrefour, and Sam's Club.
The start of supply is scheduled for 2027, with a contract duration of ten years. The project also directly contributes to the company's public goal of operating with 100% renewable electricity by 2030. The structuring of the operation included strategic and financial consulting from CELA.
Paraíso Photovoltaic Complex
The Paraíso Photovoltaic Complex will be implemented in the municipality of Paraíso das Águas (MS) and is among the largest solar projects under development in the country. Construction is expected to begin in October 2026, with energization projected for August 2027. To enable connection to the electrical grid, the project will include a 230 kV transmission line, 12,4 km long.
