Cemig (Companhia Energética de Minas Gerais) launched last Monday (29) the Availability Map, an online tool that indicates distributed generation photovoltaic connections in the state.

According to the company, the company that intends to install small solar plants in the state of Minas Gerais will be able to enter No. Cemig's website and check the capacity points of the electrical grid in a given region.

“Minas Gerais has just taken a big step in yet another simplification process. The Availability Map will make life easier for those who want to start a business in the state. In addition to reducing bureaucracy, we want to generate more and more jobs and income”, highlighted Romeu Zema, governor of Minas Gerais.

Cemig also highlights that the platform allows miners to locate points with greater technical feasibility, lower cost and connection time. “The return in cases where there is no network availability, for example, the entrepreneur will have a signal through the system itself of the need for work, its size and any estimated deadlines for it to happen”, explained Fernando Passalio, deputy secretary of Economic Development of MG.

The initiative reduces a process that lasted up to 60 days and was made through a request and responded to based on a study prepared for each case.

Minas leads state GD ranking

Data from ABSOLAR (Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy) point out Minas Gerais in first place in the distributed generation ranking, with 562,5 MWp – which represents 19,8% of the entire national territory. The state also has more than 40 thousand units connected to its distribution network.

More jobs in MG

According to a survey by FIEMG (Federation of Industries of Minas Gerais), for each gigawatt of energy installed in the state, the estimate is that 18 thousand formal jobs are generated and around R$874 million are incorporated into Minas Gerais' GDP. According to the institution, in the next three years, 134 thousand new jobs can be created in the state with investment in renewable energy.
