The Mining and Energy Committee of the Chamber of Deputies canceled the meeting that was scheduled for this Tuesday (27), in which important projects for the energy sector were on the agenda. The main one is Bill 1.583/2024, which grants exemption from Import Tax for solar panels.

The committee is only expected to meet between September 9 and 11, when the last call for deputies is scheduled for a concentrated effort before the elections.

Authored by deputy Delegado Caveira (PL-PA), PL 1.583/2024 exempts the collection of tax for the import of solar panels that have codes 8541.42 and 8541.43.00 of the NCM (Common Nomenclature of Mercosur).

The author claims that the project is necessary to “encourage the adoption of sustainable technologies and the energy transition to clean and renewable sources”, in addition to preserving the environment and reducing the cost of photovoltaic and electrical energy for end consumers.

The matter was rejected by deputy Samuel Viana (Republicanos-MG), but it could still be approved, if there is a majority in the collegiate.

Other matters on the agenda include projects to include animal protection shelters and similar establishments in the Social Electricity Tariff, and to give priority to municipalities that generate wind, photovoltaic and hydroelectric power plants in the universalization of public electricity services in rural areas.

There are also requests requesting information from the Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, about licenses for the operation and installation of wind and photovoltaic parks granted by Aneel, and summoning him to a public hearing to address an imminent power outage in Amazonas.
