Claro inaugurated, in the city of Timon (MA), its 35th energy generation plant within the “A Energia da Claro” program. The objective of the program is to cover 80% of the energy that the company uses in its operations in the country, more than 600 thousand MWh/year.
The structure is the largest solar plant in the state of Maranhão in the form of distributed generation, with a capacity of 5,1 MW, enough to supply 4,5 Brazilian homes. The solar complex occupies an area of around 17,6 hectares and has 15.692 photovoltaic modules of 325 Wp each. The estimate is to generate 10.500 MWh/year.
The program maintains operations in 12 states and has installations in the final stages of implementation in another four, in addition to projects under construction in the other federative units. “The program transformed Claro’s energy matrix and reflects our commitment to innovation, the environment and sustainability”, highlights Hamilton Silva, Claro’s Infrastructure director.
For Daniely Gomiero, director of Communication, Corporate Social Responsibility at Claro and vice-president of Projects at Instituto Claro, the action has a positive impact on the environment.
“With this, Claro guarantees the sustainable generation of energy and the rational use of resources. Renewable energy is relatively low cost and reduces the production of greenhouse gases, with less impact on the environment than fossil sources”, highlights Daniely.
