A shipment of solar panels en route from Manaus (AM) to Guarulhos (SP) was intercepted with 126 kg of drugs hidden among the equipment. The seizure occurred during a joint operation by the PC-AM (Civil Police of Amazonas) and the Federal Revenue Service.

According to the police, the narcotics were found in a transport company and were arranged among the solar panels, in an attempt to make it difficult to identify the illicit cargo during inspection.

The seized material consisted of s and hashish, a derivative of cannabis. According to the Civil Police, the shipment was valued at R$ 3 million, based on parameters from the SSP-AM (Secretariat of Public Security of Amazonas).

The discovery of the material was the result of an intelligence operation that lasted ten days, during which the Civil Police and the Federal Revenue Service exchanged information to identify and locate the cargo.

Investigations indicate that the narcotics were destined for Guarulhos, in the São Paulo Metropolitan Region, where they would be received and subsequently distributed.

Although the seizure occurred on the premises of a transport company, the Civil Police of Amazonas (PC-AM) reported that the transport company has no involvement with the group under investigation. As of the time the report was released, no suspects had been arrested.

The Civil Police reported, however, that investigators have already conducted inquiries and have a line of investigation to identify those involved. The investigation will continue with the support of the Denarc (State Department for the Prevention and Repression of Drug Trafficking) of São Paulo.
