A Elera Renewables announced the expansion of the Janaúba (MG) solar complex, one of the largest in Brazil, with increase in generation by 422 MWp and additional investments of the order of BRL 1,2 billion.
As Works are scheduled to begin in January 2024 and the expectation of Completion is for the first quarter of 2025, with the creation of more than 4 thousand direct and indirect jobs during the construction phase.
A area of the complex expansion is more than 800 hectares, the equivalent of 1,2 football fields with the capacity to supply energy to 970 homes. In all, around 700 thousand solar modules will be added to the enterprise.
O complex opened in July last year and currently has 2,2 million solar panels in operation capable of generating energy for 1 million homes.
With expansion, the site will now hold 2,9 million photovoltaic modules and sufficient generation capacity to supply almost 2 million homes.
According to Elera Renováveis, the energy from the expansion is already sold with almost 50% on Mercado Livre and with advanced negotiations to reach 70% of its commercialized capacity, also with self-production contracts
Only in 2023, the company incorporated into its operational portfolio, in addition to the Janaúba Solar Complex, three wind farms with 450 MW of installed capacity, the result of two acquisitions and the completion of the construction of the Seridó Wind Complex, in Rio Grande do Norte.
