Enel Brasil has launched the calls for proposals for the 2026 Energy Efficiency Projects Public Program, which will allocate R$ 96 million to initiatives in the company's concession areas in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Ceará.

According to the company, this is the largest amount of resources ever made available in its public calls for proposals. The initiative is part of the PEE (Energy Efficiency Program) of [Company Name]. ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) and aims to select and finance projects capable of promoting the efficient use of electricity.

Proposals aimed at reducing energy consumption are eligible, such as modernizing lighting and air conditioning systems, replacing inefficient equipment, and implementing solar power plants. Projects with battery energy storage systems are also eligible.

The amounts were determined according to the characteristics and demands of each concession area, being 80 million for São Paulo; 8 million for Rio de Janeiro and another 8 million for Ceará.

New feature: battery storage

This year's public call for proposals introduces the new option of including battery energy storage systems (BESS) in the submitted projects. These systems must be associated with distributed generation, such as photovoltaic installations.

Timeframe and evaluation criteria

Proposals may be submitted until June 1, 2026, at 5:00 PM. Each project must respect the minimum and maximum values defined in the state calls for proposals. The selection will follow technical and economic criteria established by [the relevant authority/organization]. ANEELincluding cost-benefit ratio, potential for energy savings, and customer contribution.

The execution of approved projects will be monitored by Enel through site visits, audits, measurements, and inspections, in order to guarantee compliance with deadlines and energy efficiency targets.

Workshop open to the public.

To guide those interested, the company will hold a workshop open to the public in March, presenting the rules of the call for proposals, providing guidance on preparing energy audits, and answering questions.

The event will be held online, with the possibility of a hybrid version in some locations. The date will be announced on the websites of the Enel Group's distributors.

This is likely or possibly a resource made available annually and mandatorily by all electricity distribution and generation companies in Brazil under the heading ROL – Net Operating Revenue, which allocates 0,5% to energy efficiency and R&D – Research and Development. It is already included in the tariff for all consumer classes.
