Energie Brasil announced the raising of R$2,2 billion in its first issuance of green debentures, in an operation coordinated by Itaú BBA.
"In an unprecedented move in the company's history, this issuance was structured as 'Green Debentures', based on its Green Finance Framework, prepared with ESG advice from Banco BV, which includes the Second Opinion issued by DNV Business Assurance Avaliações e Certificações Brasil, reinforcing ENGIE's commitment to ESG principles and the energy transition," he wrote in a press release.
The funds will be allocated to expenses, investments, and/or reimbursements related to the construction of the Santo Agostinho wind farm, the Assuruá solar farm, and the Assú Sol solar farm, both in Rio Grande do Norte. The funds will also be allocated to the construction of the Asa Branca transmission line (BA, MG, and ES), as well as the modernization of the Salto Osório hydroelectric plant in Paraná.
The Santo Agostinho wind complex consists of 14 farms, totaling 434 MW of installed capacity, located in the municipalities of Lajes and Pedro Avelino, in Rio Grande do Norte. The investment is R$2,3 billion, and the first generating unit began operations in March 2023.
The Assú Sol photovoltaic complex began commercial operations of part of its project in January of this year. In total, there are 16 parks, with a combined capacity of 895 MWp.
The energy from this project—which is expected to reach full commercial operation by the end of this year—is 100% allocated to the Free Market. The estimated investment is approximately R$3,3 billion.
The Asa Branca transmission project, which was put out to tender in June 2023, will span the states of Bahia, Minas Gerais, and Espírito Santo, with a total of approximately 1.000 km of transmission lines and the expansion of five associated substations. The project will strengthen the flow of renewable energy from the Northeast to the Southeast of the country.
Finally, Engie completed the modernization of the Salto Osório hydroelectric plant in Paraná last month, after six years of work, resulting from an investment of R$300 million.
The result was an increase in the plant's installed capacity from 1.078 MW to 1.103 MW, an increase of 25,67 MW. This also increased the energy marketing capacity by an average of 9,8 MW.
