Gokin Solar and AIKO have signed a strategic cooperation agreement to accelerate the commercialization and development of back-contact (BC) solar technology. The signing took place on April 17 in Guangzhou, China, with representatives from both companies present.
The initiative aims to expand production scale and strengthen the competitiveness of BC technology in the global market. Crystalline silicon cells based on this model can achieve theoretical efficiencies of up to 29,4%, in addition to offering greater operational reliability and aesthetic characteristics geared towards higher value-added applications.
The agreement brings together complementary industrial expertise. Gokin Solar operates in the production of high-efficiency silicon wafers and in expanding the capacity of BC modules. AIKO contributes with research and development, large-scale production, and a patent portfolio in the technology.
The companies foresee joint action throughout the production chain, including wafers, cells, and modules. Among the priority areas are the development of processes with lower silver consumption, the integration of capacity planning, and the strengthening of the supply chain.
The strategy also includes expanding international presence through the commercial networks of both companies.
The agreement comes amid expanding demand for more efficient and lower-carbon energy solutions in the global photovoltaic sector.

As part of this movement, Gokin Solar will participate in the Intersolar Summit Fortaleza, where it will present BC technology to the market.
“The Northeast region is undoubtedly one of the pillars of Gokin's strategy in Brazil. We believe in the region's growth potential and are committed to expanding our presence through solid partnerships, continuous investments, and technological solutions that truly make a difference to the local market,” commented Gokin's Commercial Director, Derek Wang.
