The Brazilian solar energy market continues to attract investments and strategic moves from global manufacturers. In line with this scenario, the manufacturer Gokin Solar announced the strengthening of its operation in the country with the arrival of Derek Wang to lead the commercial area.
In an interview with Canal Solar, the executive, details the company's current situation, its expansion plans in Brazil, and the manufacturer's technological differentiators in the international market.
What exactly will your role be at Gokin, and what areas will fall under your direct leadership?
I work as the Commercial Director at Gokin and currently lead a team of 6 people responsible for the Brazilian market.
Does his arrival indicate an internal restructuring or a strategic expansion of the company?
I would say both. Gokin is undergoing an internal restructuring process, aligned with a clear expansion strategy, with a special focus on the Brazilian market, where we see great growth potential and long-term opportunities.
Will your focus be more operational, strategic, or commercial within the company?
My work has a strong commercial focus, but also involves strategic aspects, mainly in the development of the Brazilian market and the strengthening of local partnerships.
How does your past experience connect with Gokin's current challenges in the global market? What are Gokin's market expectations and focuses in 2026?
Gokin has a strong global presence, particularly in the European market. In Brazil, where we have been present for several years, the focus for 2026 is to accelerate expansion, increasing our market share and strengthening our local presence.
As a strategic differentiator, Gokin is vertically integrated, with its own production of silicon wafers and ingots, positioning itself among the three largest global producers. This allows us greater quality control, supply stability, and cost competitiveness.
Furthermore, the company possesses its own BC (Back Contact) module technology, a technology still limited in the market, with only three players mastering this capability. In 2026, Gokin will expand its portfolio with new solutions and BC module launches, reinforcing its market presence.
