O Federal government launched, last Saturday (05), the Family Farming Harvest Plan in the Amazon. The measures planned, exclusively for the regions North e Northeast, have in solar energy an important pillar for the development of both regions.

“In addition to supporting cooperatives, we want to finance the agroindustry for açaí, coffee, passion fruit and oranges to add value to family production. AND fight to have water, solar energy and internet coverage"Said the Minister of Agrarian Development and Family Farming, Paulo Teixeira.

Os details of the plan were presented in a ceremony held in the city of Belém, in the State of Pará, during the Amazon Diálogos event. It encompasses investment shares and financing with lower interest rates for family production.

This year, they will be offered $ 71,6 billion protocols for pronaf (National Program for Strengthening Family Farming), a volume 34% higher than that announced in the previous year's Harvest Plan and which represents the largest amount of rural credit in the program’s history.

According to the Federal Government, in relation to the previous year, the interest rate was reduced from 5% to 4% per year for those who produce foods such as rice, beans, cassava, tomatoes, milk and eggs, among others.

Family farmers who opt for the sustainable production of healthy foods, with a focus on organic, socio-biodiversity products, bioeconomy or agroecology, will pay 3% per year for costs and 4% for investment.

The Safra Plan also established changes in the productive microcredit. A maximum family income for classifying low-income farmers was increased from R$23 thousand to R$40 thousand.

The measures also involve incentives for the sustainable production of healthy foods, incentives for the purchase of agricultural machinery, expansion of productive microcredit for family farmers and more credit for rural women.

How to join the Safra Plan?

To access credit, rural producers must look for a financial institution of their choice and authorized by the Central Bank of Brazil to carry out this type of operation. Required documents and requirements vary from bank to bank.
