Casa dos Ventos has signed a contract with Vestas for the supply of 184 wind turbines to be installed at the Dom Inocêncio Wind Complex in the south-central region of the state of Piauí. The order totals 828 MW in turbines and marks the first major investment in the Brazilian wind energy market since 2023, the year in which the crisis of generation cuts intensified in the country.
“Receiving the trust of Casa dos Ventos once again for a project of this magnitude is a source of great pride for us,” said Eduardo Ricotta, president of Vestas for Latin America.
With an estimated investment of R$ 5 billion, the project will be one of the largest wind farm complexes in Brazil, with the capacity to generate enough energy to supply approximately 2 million homes.
MS confirms three mega solar power plants together with Casa dos Ventos.
The works, under the responsibility of Vestas, are scheduled to begin in 2026, with commercial operation planned for 2028. The manufacturer will also be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the park for a period of 25 years. The expectation is that approximately 8,5 direct and indirect jobs will be generated throughout the project.
"In addition to boosting the country's energy transition, our investment will also contribute significantly to the socioeconomic development of the region," he stated. Lucas Araripe, CEO of Casa dos Ventos.
