Casa dos Ventos has signed the largest renewable energy self-production contract in Latin America with Omnia Data Centers.

The agreement, estimated at around US$2 billion, provides for a 20-year power purchase agreement with an average volume of up to 300 MW, originating from wind power projects located in Ceará and Piauí.

Omnia is building a data center for ByteDance, owner of the TikTok social network. The project will be located in the Pecém Port Complex and is expected to receive an estimated investment of R$ 200 billion.

“The data center is a historic investment that inaugurates a new chapter in TikTok's technological infrastructure in Brazil,” stated Fabiano Barreto, Public Policy Manager for TikTok in Brazil.

The energy will be supplied primarily by the Ibiapaba wind farm complex in Ceará, which will have an installed capacity of 630 MW and is under construction by Casa dos Ventos.

A smaller portion of the consumption will be supplied by the Dom Inocêncio wind farm in Piauí, also owned by the company. Investments in the implementation of the wind farms are estimated at R$ 4 billion.

In addition to increasing cost predictability, the self-production model will allow the data center to operate entirely on renewable energy, aligning the project with best sustainability practices.

“Self-generation of energy allows us to combine scale, predictability, and sustainability in a single strategy. By internalizing part of the generation and ensuring the use of renewable sources, we strengthen the energy resilience of the Pecém Data Center and make concrete progress on our decarbonization agenda,” stated Omnia CEO, Rodrigo Abreu.

The development of the data center is also expected to generate a strong regional impact, with an estimated 6 direct jobs created during the construction and operation phases of the projects, in addition to indirect jobs throughout the production chain.

According to Lucas Araripe, CEO of Casa dos Ventos, the agreement reinforces Brazil's potential as a strategic destination for technology investments.

"In synergy with our partners, we apply our expertise in wind power generation, transforming the potential of the winds into 'green bytes' for export and positioning the country at the forefront of the new digital economy," he said.
