Casa dos Ventos will begin commercial operation this month of the Rio Brilhante Solar Complex in Mato Grosso do Sul, a project developed to fulfill the self-production contract signed with Sabesp (Basic Sanitation Company of the State of São Paulo).
Located in Campo Grande (MS), the complex has an installed capacity of 491 MW and received investments of approximately R$ 1,5 billion. According to the agreement, the energy generated by the project will be entirely dedicated to meeting the contracted demand of the sanitation company.
The self-generation model has been gaining ground among energy-intensive consumers because it provides greater predictability of energy costs, in addition to allowing access to regulatory benefits, such as exemption from certain sector charges.
Currently, Sabesp serves 376 municipalities in São Paulo state and is the eighth largest consumer of electricity in Brazil. In November 2025, the company presented its decarbonization plan to the market, which foresees a 15% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions over the next ten years.
The strategy includes a 43% reduction in Scope 2 emissions related to electricity consumption. Key initiatives to achieve this goal include expanding self-generation and contracting energy from renewable sources.
