O Canal Solar visited China to take a behind-the-scenes look at DMEGC, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of magnets, battery cells and photovoltaic modules. During the visit, our team closely observed the rigorous quality tests applied to solar panels to ensure their strength, safety and performance before they are shipped to the global market.

In the laboratory of DMEGC, which has international certifications such as TÜV and VDE, the modules undergo a series of evaluations designed to simulate the most extreme conditions they may face throughout their useful life, both in large-scale plants and in distributed generation.

Among the tests, the hail impact test stands out, in which ice spheres are thrown against the glass of the modules to check their resistance against severe weather conditions. Another procedure is the static and dynamic load test, which simulates the weight of up to 500 kg applied to the modules, in addition to the stresses caused by the action of the wind and accumulated snow in some markets.

The panels are also subjected to extreme temperature and humidity cycles, with variations ranging from -40°C to 85°C, evaluating their durability and performance in different climates – from intense cold to high tropical temperatures.

In the laboratory, the Canal Solar also monitored the so-called hotspot test, which identifies the formation of hot spots in the cells, a phenomenon that can compromise the efficiency and safety of the modules. Electrical tests are also carried out, such as the leakage current test, which guarantees the integrity of the electrical insulation of the panels, and the flash test, which verifies whether the actual power of the modules corresponds to the values declared under standard conditions (STC).

In addition to the tests, the visit allowed visitors to see the photovoltaic cell production line. The entire process is controlled by systems interconnected via 5G, with robots operating from material handling to the final stages of quality inspection.

Another highlight of the structure is the battery cell factory. company, one of the largest in China, with a production capacity of 6 GWh per year, reinforcing the company's operations not only in the solar sector, but also in energy storage.
