“This joint development with Iberdrola fulfills our mission to create a future that works for people and the planet by creating innovative energy and storage solutions,” said Ken Kawai, CEO of Mitsubishi Power.

According to Aitor Moso, director of Liberalized Business at Iberdrola, the agreement represents a very important milestone in the strategy of developing alliances with key players in the industrial sector, “one of the most difficult to decarbonize, allowing us to advance towards efficient electrification”.

“With the expansion of renewable solutions such as batteries and green hydrogen in industrial manufacturing processes, we put our capabilities at the service of an urgent and common goal: building a more sustainable and emission-free economic model, offering development opportunities for the industry and employment”, added Moso.

According to Iberdrola, the goal is to be a carbon neutral company in Europe by 2030. It has already launched a €150 billion investment plan this decade to triple renewable capacity and network assets.
