With an investment of R$12 million, EMEB Joaquim Candelário de Freitas will be the first school in Jundiaí to have a photovoltaic system to meet the demand for electricity, according to the City Hall.
The 72,36 KWp plant has 171 solar panels. In addition to being integrated into the square located next to the building, the school unit will have LED lighting, solar heating (water) and water reuse for cleaning the external area.
“The City Hall has prioritized sustainable constructions with concern for the environment in public buildings. In the case of EMEB Candelário, we also responded to a request from the students who participated in the project to build the school”, says Mayor Luiz Fernando Machado.
“In addition to credit, investment in photovoltaic energy presents a return in approximately three years, which results in contributions to public coffers”, comments Ademir Pedro Victor, deputy manager of the Infrastructure and Public Services Management Unit (UGISP), responsible for installing the system at EMEB Candelário.
The school will be the largest unit of the Escola Innovadora de Jundiaí – a municipal project that aims to meet the concepts of a smart city, which includes the promotion of investments in technologies to attract large companies.
The land on which the building is being built was home to the old school with the same name, but which had major structural problems. The new structure will have 4,7 square meters, which will house a new school with three floors, laboratories, amphitheater, library, 20 classrooms and a covered court.
