With the first round of the 2026 Elections scheduled for next Sunday (4), the ANEEL The National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL) has determined that distribution concessionaires and licensees prepare a special service plan to reinforce the continuity of energy supply during voting and other stages of the electoral process.
According to the document sent to the companies, the plan should include actions to minimize any interruptions in the supply of electricity in the locations directly involved with the elections, including polling stations, Regional Electoral Courts (TREs), and the Superior Electoral Court (TSE).
The guidance covers not only the voting periods, but also stages considered critical to the electoral process, such as vote counting, data transmission, and tabulation of results.
Among the measures determined by the Agency is the reorganization of scheduled interventions in the distribution networks.
According to craftDistributors should try to avoid scheduled maintenance work on election days and during the vote counting period, adjusting maintenance schedules to avoid coinciding with these times.
The special plan should also include a structure in place to handle emergency situations during the election period.
A ANEEL The document highlighted the need to ensure the proper functioning of the service throughout the distributors' concession area on the designated dates, and not only in the locations where polling stations are installed.
Any incidents that occur during this period will be subject to inspection by... ANEEL and the state agencies that have agreements with the agency, as established in the document.
In the Federal District, specific measures are already being adopted to reinforce the security of the power supply during the election period. The TRE-DF (Regional Electoral Court of the Federal District) and Neoenergia Brasília have signed a Technical Cooperation Agreement to ensure the supply of electricity to polling places during the 2026 Elections.
According to the Court, the partnership includes information sharing, preventative actions, operational coordination, and monitoring of the electrical grid during the election period.
The agreement is part of the preparations for the first round of voting on October 4th, and for a possible second round on October 25th.
