Rio Grande do Sul became the 3rd Brazilian state to reach the mark of 1 GW of installed power in solar DG (distributed generation), according to information collected by Canal Solar, based on data from the ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency).

The federative unit joins the states of Minas Gerais and São Paulo, which had already reached the mark in 2021. In total, the municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul have more than 131,1 thousand UCs (Consumer Units) receiving credits and more than 104 thousand plants photovoltaic plants installed in all 497 municipalities.

In the same period last year, when the state had not even reached the 0,6 GW mark, there were 64,2 thousand UCs and 52,1 thousand systems installed in homes, rural areas, companies, commercial establishments and public power headquarters in the state. region.

In the evaluation of Gustavo Tegon, co-founder of Esfera Solar, having yet another Brazilian state reaching 1 GW in solar DG proves the growth of the sector in recent years. “It is yet another indication that proves that solar energy is a democratic source that fits in the pockets of all Brazilians. We hope that, in the coming months, some states in the Central-West, Northeast and North will also be able to reach this milestone (of 1 GW)”, he said.

Previously considered as a tool to reduce costs in large commercial establishments or large buildings, solar energy began to be installed in residential and commercial developments, rural properties and many others, and can be installed with Lowest price it's bigger ease of financing.
