On Tuesday (26), state deputies in Mato Grosso do Sul approved a bill that obliges electricity distributors to detail information about consumers' solar energy generation in electricity bills.

According to the bill, electricity consumers in Mato Grosso do Sul who have already installed or will install photovoltaic systems will have greater control over solar energy generation in their homes or businesses.

The justification for the proposal, as pointed out by the parliamentarians, is that the use of solar energy has been growing in the state as an alternative to reduce electricity costs, but many consumers still face difficulties in understanding the data presented on their bills.

The approved text therefore mandates that electricity distribution concessionaires and licensees in the state must inform consumers and solar energy generators, in a clear and detailed manner, of the amount of energy injected into the grid, the active energy consumed, the surplus balance, and other information stipulated by law. ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency).

The bill provides for sanctions in case of non-compliance with the future legislation, based on the Consumer Protection Code. Currently, the state is primarily served by Energisa-MT (which covers the vast majority of municipalities) and Neoenergia Elektro (which serves five cities in Mato Grosso do Sul).

Fines can range from 3 to 200 million UFERMS (State Fiscal Reference Unit of Mato Grosso do Sul), which is equivalent to between R$ 10,7 and R$ 161,1 million. With the approval of PL The text, approved by state representatives, now goes to Governor Eduardo Riedel (Progressistas) for his signature.

Great, it's worth migrating to other regions, for example, Pernambuco, where communication with the Neoenergia Pernambuco concessionaire is very difficult.
