A Ipiranga Station, the São Paulo (SP) subway line with works scheduled for completion in 2025, will have the solar power generation responsible for its electrical supply.

The station will be one of the first to use the new photovoltaic generation system, being able to generate around 25 MWh per month, a value that corresponds to approximately 39% of the demand of a monorail station.

The initiative aims to bring better energy efficiency to the Metro, in addition to reducing operating costs. According to the Integrated Metro Report, there will be, in total, 522 modules with a power close to 208 kW peak.

The monorail Line 15-Silver It will be on the western section, the construction of the Ipiranga station is planned and will allow for a better distribution of passengers through integration with Line 10-Turquoise.

Monorail is a transport system on tires, with electric traction, which runs “embraced” a concrete beam and has different movement characteristics than conventional trains, which run in contact with steel rails.

Photovoltaic modules will be installed on the station's roof, which, in addition to housing the solar panels, will also come with glass strips that allow better use of sunlight, further reducing electricity consumption.

The Metro will monitor the operation of this solar solution so that it can be implemented in other stations in the future in the elevated stations on Line 1-Blue and 3-Red.
