Shell, through Prime Energy — a group company operating in the free market and in renewable energy solutions — has signed a five-year contract with Motiva for the annual supply of 2.115,6 MWh of solar energy destined for the Presidente Dutra, Castelo Branco, and Rio-Santos highways in the State of São Paulo.

Motiva is the new name of the former CCR group, adopted in 2024 after a brand repositioning that sought to consolidate the company as an integrated mobility and infrastructure platform. Prime Energy, on the other hand, was acquired by Shell in 2023.

In total, the contracted renewable energy will supply 120 facilities operated by Motiva, including toll plazas, public lighting systems, signaling equipment, and monitoring cameras along the highways. The generation will be handled by power plants located in the concession areas of the distributors CPFL Paulista and Elektro.

According to Motiva, the supply of solar energy will allow for an estimated average savings of 26% in annual electricity costs for these units. The company emphasizes that the contract is aligned with its ESG strategy, which prioritizes reducing carbon emissions, using renewable sources, and seeking greater operational efficiency.

In recent years, the company has expanded its investments in clean energy through various partnerships in the electricity sector. Examples include the agreement with Neoenergia, which made Motiva... partner in three wind farms in Piauí for operational support, and the partnership with EDP, with the signing of a contract for the supply of solar energy, in the shared distributed generation (DG) model, to the Anhanguera-Bandeirantes System (SP).
