More than R $ 1 billion will be released by Federal government No. next year for solar energy production and semiconductors, assured Geraldo Alckmin, vice-president of the Republic and minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services.
The information was released by the head of the Department, this Tuesday (03), at the opening of the 15th Congress of Micro, Small and Medium Industry, held at the headquarters of fiesp (Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo).
Os resources will be released under the New Padis (Support Program for the Technological Development of the Semiconductor Industry), which deals with tax incentives for the electronic components and semiconductor industries and on the protection of intellectual property for integrated circuit topographies.
“We included it in the New Padis, which will invest R$1 billion next year in reducing the tax burden for the semiconductor and solar energy areas. So, the government is making R$1 billion available to help the semiconductor and solar energy chain,” said Alckmin.

Published on March 28, 2023, Decree No. 11.456 brings updates and expansions to PADIS, which offers reductions in rates of: Import Tax, IPI and PIS-COFINS, in addition to other benefits for the production of chips and semiconductors . In 2023, the amount of the incentive will exceed R$600 million.
According to the Federal Government, the program plays a crucial role in the manufacture of various electronic devices, such as smartphones, computers, televisions and industrial automation systems. With the New Padis, the Union hopes that the semiconductor industry will generate economic benefits and new technologies for Brazil.
