State Grid Brazil has received approval from CADE (Administrative Council for Economic Defense) to proceed with the acquisition of Mantiqueira Transmissora de Energia, a company holding the concession for a significant set of transmission assets in Minas Gerais.
Mantiqueira was the winner of lot A in auction no. 05/2015. The assets include 11 transmission lines at voltages of 230, 345 and 500 kV, totaling 924 kilometers in length, in addition to eight substations located in the state of Minas Gerais. The company is controlled by FIP Brasil Energia and registers annual revenue exceeding R$ 700 million.
According to State Grid, the operation represents an opportunity to expand its investments in a sector considered stable, with economies of scale and greater portfolio diversification.
From the perspective of FIP Brasil Energia, the transaction allows for the return of funds to investors, in line with the natural investment and divestment cycle of private equity.
