Vitória Airport (ES) will be the next asset of Zurich Airport Brasil to receive a project for its own energy generation.

The concessionaire will invest R$ 20 million in the construction of a photovoltaic complex consisting of four solar power plants, with a total installed capacity of 5.787 kWp and approximately 8.000 modules.

The expectation is that the system will generate approximately 769 MWh per month, a volume sufficient to fully meet the operational demand of the Espírito Santo terminal.

The implementation is scheduled to begin on July 1st, the date on which the concessionaire will also officially launch the project.

The strategy is already being implemented at other airports.

Before Vitória, the concessionaire had already announced similar projects at other Brazilian airports. One example is... Macaé Airport (RJ), where the concessionaire inaugurated a photovoltaic system in February of this year with 1.440 solar modules and an installed capacity of 1 MW.

The concessionaire has also announced that it will inaugurate a new photovoltaic plant at Natal International Airport (RN) in the second half of this year, expanding the presence of solar energy in its network of airports in Brazil.

ANAC approves new rules for batteries.

Furthermore, the expansion of solar power generation at Brazilian airports is occurring at a time when the sector is also beginning to advance in the use of energy storage systems.

Recently, ANAC (National Civil Aviation Agency) approved new rules that allow the installation of photovoltaic systems associated with batteries in airports across the country.

This measure should create opportunities for airport operators to increase the energy autonomy of their facilities, reduce their dependence on the electricity grid, and enhance operational safety in situations of power outages.

ANAC approves the use of solar energy and batteries in airport lighting.
