ABGD (Brazilian Association of Distributed Energy Resources), in partnership with UNIFEI (Federal University of Itajubá), will conduct an international tour with the aim of seeking solutions for the growth of MMGD (micro and mini-distributed generation), the energy storage market, and the modernization of electrical grids in Brazil.

The itinerary will be divided into three stages and will have technical curation by Thymos Energia, with the first stage taking place in September in Europe, with events in Paris (France), London (England) and Cologne (Germany).

The program includes participation in the CIGRÉ 2026 Distribution Day in Paris, focusing on the concept of DSO (Distribution System Operator). The agenda will also address regulation, flexibility, and new operating models for distribution networks in light of the growth of MMGD (Multi-Level Marketing).

The second phase will take place in November and will include stops in Beijing and Shenzhen, China, with visits focused on network technologies, distributed generation integration, energy storage, and digital solutions applied to the DSO concept.

The final stage will last five days and will take place in California, United States, in March 2027, with agendas in San Diego and Los Angeles. The itinerary will focus on the integration between technology, regulation and innovation, as well as experiences from concessionaires operating networks with a high participation of MMGD (Multi-Marketing Distribution).

“The exchange of knowledge is fundamental to bringing Brazil closer to global best practices and strengthening solutions aligned with the challenges of our electricity sector, especially to ensure that the grid is ready to absorb the growth of distributed generation,” highlights Christino Áureo da Silva, Advisor and Vice-President of Institutional and Governmental Relations at ABGD.

According to the executive, each destination was chosen for a specific characteristic. “CIGRÉ brings a global perspective on the challenges facing power grids; England is a benchmark in regulation and flexibility for distributed generation; Germany and China demonstrate large-scale application of technology and digitalization; and California brings together advanced cases of integration between the market, utilities, and innovation with a focus on distributed generation,” he said.
