The Special Solar Energy Study Commission (ABNT/CEE-30) was installed this Tuesday (253), which aims to develop technical standards that should strengthen the process of diversification of the Brazilian energy matrix.
According to ABNT (Brazilian Association of Technical Standards), the work of the new Study Committee will include design, installation, inspection and maintenance of photovoltaic and solar thermal energy systems; photovoltaic modules; solar collectors; thermal solar panel; thermosolar reservoirs; constructive and supporting elements; control and security systems; management systems and environmental aspects, regarding terminology, requirements, test methods and generalities.
ABNT/CEE-253 will monitor the work of the international committee ISO/TC 180 (Solar Energy) and will coordinate the ABSOLAR (Brazilian Photovoltaic Solar Energy Association).
For Rodrigo Sauaia, the association's CEO, the rapid and dynamic evolution of different solar technologies brings strategic opportunities to improve the technical standards used by the sector and the market, as a way to improve and standardize processes, products and services.
“This partnership with ABNT is a milestone for the sector and for the ABSOLAR. It will further improve the quality of solar systems in the country, whether in solar generation in homes, small businesses, rural properties and public buildings, or in large-scale solar plants,” he explains.
“It is a great source of pride for the ABSOLAR take on this work together with ABNT, a reference entity in the country in important production chains”, commented Ronaldo Koloszuk, president of the Board of Directors of ABSOLAR.
“A ABSOLAR It comes to add to the work that ABNT develops in harmony with governments and society, in order to collaborate with the implementation of public policies, promote the development of markets, the protection of consumers and the safety of all citizens”, he added.
For Mário William, president of ABNT, the ABNT/CEE-253 Special Study Commission will contribute to the normalization in the field of solar energy, aiming to strengthen the process of diversification of the Brazilian energy matrix.
“Brazil is a country rich in renewable resources for energy production, having one of the cleanest energy matrices in the world. As the official country representative of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), ABNT has promoted numerous actions to increase participation in Brazilian standardization on issues related to solar energy, to guarantee greater safety, quality and performance for this market”, he highlighted.
