ABSOLAR intensifies actions to solve problems caused by the extension of REN 878

The Association is also in contact with State Governments to resume GDFV activities in their regions.

A ABSOLAR (Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy) is stepping up actions to reverse the problems caused by the extension of REN 878, which was approved on March 24, with a validity of 90 days, until July 31. The normative resolution, which allows distributors to carry out activities remotely, such as meter readings, has negatively affected important activities for distributed generation, such as inspections and replacement of meters.

As a result of the work, the entity is in contact with three large concessionaires: Enel group (several distributors), Light and CEB (Companhia Energética de Brasília). At CEB, GDFV (photovoltaic distributed generation) activities have already been resumed, including with a new stock of bidirectional meters. With the other two groups, the Association managed to open up the specific cases of the members of the ABSOLAR be sent so they can resolve the issues.

A ABSOLAR also commented that it is working with the Federal Government and the Presidency of the Republic to include GDFV as an essential activity. According to the entity, this round of official letters and meetings has already resulted in the Association receiving an official letter from the MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy) attesting that, in their understanding, GD is included as an essential activity. In this case, they disagree with the interpretation of the ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency). The disagreement has already been reported to the Presidency of the Republic. “We will continue to press for a solution for GDFV operations, with the goal of unblocking suspended activities,” the agency emphasized. ABSOLAR.

The Association is also in contact with State Governments to resume GDFV activities in their regions. “We are already seeing positive results from this action. The Government of Rio Grande do Sul will mediate the dialogue with the CEEE (Electric Energy Trading Chamber), based on information from members who are experiencing problems, to resolve the cases”, they concluded.

How to proceed?

Members with problems at GDFV caused by the pandemic can contact TECREG ABSOLAR (tecnicoregulatorio@absolar.org.br) so they can help with the distributors.
