The sum of new private investments in DG (distributed generation) and GC (centralized generation) could exceed R$ 22,6 billion in 2021, according to projections from ABSOLAR (Brazilian Photovoltaic Solar Energy Association).
According to the entity, an increase of 4,9 GW of installed power in Brazil is expected, which represents 68% of the current capacity of 7,5 GW.
The survey also showed that the DG segment should increase by 90%, from 4,4 GW to 8,3 GW. The GC market can expect an expansion of 37% this year, reaching the 4,2 GW mark.
“Solar is the most competitive renewable source in the country and a true lever for economic, social and environmental development, generating jobs and income, attracting investments, diversifying the electricity matrix and providing systemic benefits for all Brazilian consumers,” says Rodrigo Sauaia, CEO of ABSOLAR.
According to the association, investments in the photovoltaic solar energy sector increase the net revenue of federal, state and municipal governments, being responsible for raising around R$6,7 billion.
The value is accounting for the savings generated by consumers on their electricity bills, showing that the economic benefit of the sector is also favorable for the public authorities.
“Solar energy reduces the population’s electricity costs, increases the competitiveness of companies and relieves the government’s budget, benefiting small, medium and large consumers in the country”, says Ronaldo Koloszuk, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ABSOLAR.
Jobs
A ABSOLAR estimates that the photovoltaic energy sector will generate more than 147 thousand jobs throughout the national territory in 2021.
The prospects for the segment are to end this year with an accumulated total of 377 thousand jobs in the country since 2012, distributed among all the market's productive links. The majority of this portion is DG, responsible for 118 thousand jobs projected for 2021.
