A accelerate, through Mataripe Refinery, announced the formation of j to Olos technology Perfin Infra Resource Management and Illian Renewable Energy to invest in a 161 MW solar plant, located in the semi-arid region of Bahia.
With this project, in addition to meeting its own electricity demand, the company also advances in its decarbonization goals. The forecast is that the photovoltaic complex start operating from third quarter of 2025.
According to the company, the project will reduce 128 thousand tons of CO2 per year and reduce the consumption of energy acquired by the Mataripe Refinery, eliminating scope 2. The construction of the park will also contribute to the socioeconomic development of the region with the creation of 530 jobs.
included in CAP (Growth Acceleration Program) of the Federal Government, the system has the contribution of around R$530 million, with R$418,5 million in the form of non-recourse project finance in US dollars, contracted with BNDES (National Bank for Economic and Social Development).
To Luiz de Mendonça, CEO of Acelen, the project reinforces the company’s vision of accelerating the energy transition with excellence. “We reaffirm our purpose since we arrived in Bahia, contributing to significant advances in CO2 reductions, which gains even more relevance with the implementation of this solar complex.”
O strategic investment is linked to a series of actions of the energy transition agenda adopted by Acelen, which contributes to the reduction and mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions from the refinery.
The refinery's electricity demand, which is increasing with electrification projects, will be met by the energy contract encouraged in self-production modality. Acelen will have carbon credits generated by the solar park, in addition to preference in the purchase of energy.
