The German solar panel manufacturer Solar AE will expand its operations with the opening of a new factory in Kayseri, Turkey. The expectation is that the production capacity of the new facility will exceed 1 GW by the end of this year.

The new manufacturing unit will produce modules with 166 mm, 182 mm and 210 mm solar cells. According to AE Solar, the factory will be fully automated to produce panels from 5 BB to 12 BB.

With the start of operation of the new facility, scheduled for April this year, the German manufacturer will have an annual capacity of more than 1,5 GW planned by the end of 2021 in Europe, and its global production capacity will be 2,5 GW, considering its third unit, located in Asia.

The new factory is a joint venture between AE Solar and Energate Corp, which has more than 15 years of experience in the energy industry and was founded by American and Turkish entrepreneurs.

With the expansion of its production capacity, the German manufacturer plans to continue its expansion in the USA, Europe, South America, the Middle East and North Africa.

“We are committed to maximizing the value of photovoltaic modules and remaining a reliable global energy supplier for the long-term benefits of customers,” said Alexander Maier, founder and CEO of AE Solar.

Currently, AE Solar operates in more than 90 countries and was listed by Bloomberg NEF as a Tier 1 manufacturer. According to Maier, the company's objective is to further expand the company's presence and strengthen relationships with international partners using more efficient operating methods. responsible and innovative.

In 2020, for example, AE Solar introduced NFC (Near Field Communication) chips into all of its panels. According to the manufacturer, the move aims to protect its products against piracy in the solar industry.

With this, customers can check the authenticity of their solar panels, through an app, in a matter of seconds.
