A Amara NZero announced that it will enter 2023 with new actions to combat climate change, aiming to achieve zero carbon emissions in its operations cargo transport.

“In January, the NZero Brasil Fleet Zero Carbon Project begins across the country. Annually, we have an average of 1.422.668,18 km traveled by our fleet, enough to circle the Earth more than 35 times”, said Eduardo Donsele, the company's Logistics Manager in Brazil.

“We are happy to close the year 2022 with the program taking place, generating hope, faith and confidence that 2023 will be an even better year”, he highlighted.

The measurement and compensation project is carried out in partnership with Edenred and through GreenPrint (the PDI Company, an environmental technology company), with globally recognized certificates.

For Amara the financial investment is insignificant compared to the benefit generated by it. The program will have an annual compensation cycle, but monthly indicators will be generated that will allow factors such as sustainability and more conscious consumption when determining routes to be added to the routing plan.

With access to this information, the company stated that it will be possible to choose routes that consume less fuel and in which vehicles emit fewer polluting gases into the atmosphere.

The compensation plan initially involves investments in social and environmental projects that cover nine of the 17 United Nations SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).

Transport sector in Brazil

According to data published by the Climate Observatory, in 2019, the transport sector in Brazil represented 47% of total energy emissions, with cargo transport being responsible for 40% of this total – emissions come mainly from the burning of fuels fossils, especially gasoline and diesel.

Amara NZero adopted a solution for its cargo transport operations that allows 100% of the carbon emissions generated by the fleet to be offset.
