In a practical test inside an apartment in the metropolitan region of São Paulo (SP), the team at Canal Solar accompanied the installation and operation of an all-in-one storage solution from UCB Power.
The system, which can operate with or without photovoltaic generation, is programmed to be charged by the distributor's network and take over the loads during a power outage or blackout, a scenario that has driven the search for domestic backup after recent outages.
The equipment combines an inverter, battery, and photovoltaic input (optional) in a single cabinet, with a grid input and output for priority loads. In the apartment, all 127 V loads (lighting, outlets, TV, and refrigerator) were routed to the system's "backup" port; high-demand 220 V loads (air conditioning and electric shower) remained off the backup circuit.
In the simulation, when the main circuit breaker was turned off, the critical loads continued operating without noticeable interruption. The display indicated approximately 700 W peak and ~500 W steady state, which, with a 4,8 kWh battery, provides autonomy of over 8 hours for the tested profile. In addition to the display, the system allows remote monitoring via cell phone or computer.
