Generator Port and AC Coupling The generator port is a dedicated AC input present in Hoymiles hybrid inverters (HIS, HYS and HIT), originally designed for connecting combustion generators (diesel, gasoline or gas). From an electrical and functional point of view, this port is: An AC input controlled by the EMS (Energy Management System); Capable of accepting an external alternating power source; Integrated into the prioritization logic between PV, battery, grid, and external source. In other words, the inverter doesn't just "receive" energy from the generator: it decides when, how, and how much to use, and can even charge batteries from that source. In AC coupling, the photovoltaic generation does not enter the hybrid inverter from the DC side (strings), but rather from the AC side, in this case, through the use of microinverters.
