B3: energy sector contributed R$19,24 billion in the first half of the year

B3: energy sector contributed R$19,24 billion in the first half of the year

The first half of 2024 of B3, Brazilian stock exchange, had 20 auctions with 34 public assets granted to the private sector. Os investments, in the order of R$ 52,7 billion, were contracted in Capex (investment in acquisitions or opening of branches) and Opex (operational costs, such as water, electricity and rent).

The same period last year saw the participation of 12 auctions, with 20 assets granted. Growth in these first six months, also in relation to last year, was 36%.

“The numbers show that the infrastructure sector is booming. Federal government states and municipalities have led this agenda and, for us at B3, it is a source of pride to offer a reliable business environment capable of uniting public authorities with interested investors”, says Guilherme Peixoto, Superintendent of Relationships and Governance in Tenders at B3.

“For the second half of the year, we expect an even greater volume.To date, there are more than 25 projects published to be carried out this year in different sectors and for all regions of the country”, adds.

O energy sector participated with the transmission auction of ANEELOn March, which had 15 lots. O investment was R$ 18,2 billion and an average discount of 40%, the second largest auction in the Agency's history. The total number of transmission lines was 6.464 kilometers that will pass through 14 states.

Another highlight in the energy segment was for the privatization of Emae (Metropolitan Water and Energy Company), which attracted three investors. The transaction was closed with the total bid for the shares sold from  R $ 1,04 billion (R$ 70,65 per share), representing a premium of 33,68%.

Other highlights

Other sectors that stood out were transport and urban mobility, in the state of São Paulo, which had investments of R$ 18,5 billion. The Federal Government re-tendered the BR-040/MG in Minas Gerais, worth R$ 8,7 billion.

The exchange also received five PPP (Public-Private Partnership) auctions in public lighting, worth R$250 million in investment in the municipalities of Guanabi (BA), Lagoa Real (BA), which participated together through the Alto Sertão Consortium; in addition to Ariquemes (RO), Foz do Iguaçu (PR), Araguari (MG) and Teixeira de Freitas (BA).

The first half of the year also saw auctions for two national parks: Chapada dos Guimarães (MT) and Jericoacoara (CE), which will receive R$1,3 billion in investments.

Basic sanitation had three projects with investments of R$590 million, in the municipalities of Ourinhos (SP), Franca (SP) and Embasa (Bahian Water and Sanitation Company).

The project to grant reused water services also stood out. for industrial purposes by Cesan (Companhia Espírito Santense de Saneamento). Investments for the construction, operation and maintenance of the sewage treatment plant and supply of reused water will be R$ 2,24 billion.

For the first time, B3 provided support for two accreditation processes, a modality in which there is no dispute or exclusivity, for concessions of lottery services of Paraná. With a market potential of more than R$ 7 billion in ten years,

Furthermore, in a irrigation project, Codevasf (São Francisco and Parnaíba Valleys Development Company) granted the real right of use for the creation and exploration of the irrigated perimeter of Jequitaí, in Minas Gerais. The project will receive R$ 2,5 billion in investments and will generate more than 84 thousand jobs in the region, promoting income and agricultural production.
