Blackout leaves 18 cities in the dark in the interior of Rio de Janeiro

Thousands of consumers from 18 cities from the interior of the state of Rio de Janeiro were affected by a blackout, on the afternoon of this Monday (13), due to a occurrence external to the Enel network, registered in transmission system in Campos dos Goytacazes (RJ).

A power supply interruption started at 16:17 p.m. and, according to the concessionaire, the situation was normalized at 18:59 pm this Monday.

“Enel Distribuição Rio informs that it fully normalized at 18:59 pm on Monday (13) the supply of energy to all customers in the North and Northwest regions of the State impacted by an occurrence external to the Enel network, registered at 16:17 pm in the Transmission system in Campos dos Goytacazes. Normalization occurred gradually”, informed Enel in a note.

The information was confirmed by Furnas. “Eletrobras clarifies that at 16:17 pm today (13) there was a partial shutdown of the 138kV and 345kV sectors of SE Campos. The Eletrobras Furnas maintenance team was promptly called, and the failure of a small piece of equipment was identified. The occurrence had repercussions on the local Distribution Concessionary system, affecting the Campos region. The complete restoration of the Eletrobras Furnas system was completed at 19pm”, informed Furnas in a note.

As impacted cities were Italva, Itaperuna, Bom Jesus do Itabapoana, Cambuci, São José de Ubá, Laje do Muriaé, Porciúncula, Aperibé, São Fidélis, Natividade, Varre-Sai, Santo Antônio de Pádua, Miracema, Itaocara, Cardoso Moreira, São Francisco do Itabapoana , São João da Barra and part of Campos dos Goytacazes.

Blackout in Rocinha

Residents of community of Rocinha and neighborhoods in the South Zone also reported on social media the lack of energy on site at night. A The region is served by the distributor Light.

In addition to Rocinha, the neighborhoods of Penha, Bonsucesso, Olaria, Ramos and other nearby regions were impacted. “A high voltage incident caused power outages in some sections of streets in the neighborhoods. Company teams are working to restore power as quickly as possible”, informed Light.

Around 22:50 p.m., the Light stated that the service had been reestablished after work by the teams impact on cities.
