A BYD Energy do Brasil started producing the Harpia photovoltaic module, which brings technology N-Type TOPCon e power up to 575 Wp. The first batch has already been produced for sale.

The novelty – whose project was developed entirely by the company's R&D (Research and Development) area in Brazil – brings great differences such as, for example, greater energy efficiency.

Another advantage, according to the manufacturer, is its low thermal coefficient, 12,8% lower than previous products, a feature of utmost importance in countries like Brazil, which has a tropical climate.

Harpia also has reduced LID rates (Light Induced Degradation) and PID (Power Induced Degradation) over time. The new technology allows the degradation rate to reach less than 0,5% per year, compared to around 0,7% for previous equipment.

According to the company, to achieve high levels of reliability, quality and efficiency, there was a series of steps developed and a long trajectory of experimentation, including complex laboratory tests, passing through reliability assessments of the prototype, until reaching the final product.

BYD will be prepared to meet all market demand for the product from the 2nd quarter of 2023. “Today, BYD Energy has great technological capacity. Here in Brazil, we have an engineering and R&D staff that provides all operations focused on new developments.”

“I am convinced that the beginning of manufacturing this new product attests that, in addition to mastering cutting-edge technology, we have reached full market maturity”, stated Marcelo Taborda, Sales Director at BYD Energy do Brasil.

“All of our efficiency, quality and innovation in the development of new products are the result of the work of a qualified team, which has at its disposal one of the best and most updated R&D infrastructure in the photovoltaic area in Latin America”, highlighted Rodrigo Garcia, manager of R&D at BYD Energy do Brasil.

more efficiency

With the new Harpia N Type Topcon module technology, it is possible to reduce the installation area while maintaining the same output energy. The savings also end up being reflected in less use of metal structures and a reduction in the cost of leasing the occupied area.

“In this way, the customer can reduce their costs, with a smaller investment and also substantially improve energy efficiency, in addition to reducing the amount of equipment and achieving a lower operating cost. This, not to mention the advantages of the new module, due to the low rate of annual degradation and high efficiency, and the possibility of reducing the LCOE (Levelized Cost of Energy)”, they highlighted.
