BYD proudly debuted its E-SEED GT concept car and Song Pro SUV, alongside its new e-Series models, at the 18th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition held at the Shanghai National Convention and Exhibition Center.

The company also showcased its latest Dynasty series of vehicles. A total of 23 new car models were displayed at the event, fully demonstrating the design of BYD New Architecture (BNA), the third generation of Dual Mode technology, as well as the world's leading electronic platform structure.

BYD's strong ability to launch new products, as well as its redefined automobile design brought by its newly hired international team, sets a modern model for the country's automakers and launches a new era of powerful and technologically advanced Chinese cars.

“The recent Chinese electric vehicles have ushered in a new market, a starting point for high-quality development,” said Wang Chuanfu, Global President of BYD, during the press conference at the event.

“To meet the arrival of full electrification, BYD has formulated a series of strategies and is well prepared. BYD's latest offerings will provide an exclusive experience and, at the same time, bring new power to Chinese cars,” added the executive.

The E-SEED GT concept car represents the pinnacle of BYD design, fusing the expertise of three international design experts, Wolfgang Egger, BYD Global Design Director, JuanMa Lopez, BYD Global Exterior Design Director, and Michele Jauch- Paganetti, Global Director of Interior Design at BYD. The concept car uses the “Dragon Face” design language, successfully applying the elements of a Chinese dragon, with headlights resembling dragon whiskers and a “dragon crest” on its roof. It also has a three-screen interconnection, a retractable steering wheel, as well as a “BYD heart” and other technologies.

BYD's new Song Pro offers an attractive and confident appearance, effectively making it the icon of the entire BYD Dynasty series, embodying the company's enormous design improvements. This SUV is built under the BNA architecture, featuring a wheelbase of 2.712 mm, with a large interior space and five seats, comparable to a medium or large SUV.

It features a smoother, more comfortable, quieter and more energy-efficient ride. It comes equipped with the leading DiLink 2.0 Open Intelligent Network, level 2 intelligent car assistant, leading touchscreen artificial intelligence interaction and other technologies.

In the design, it also integrates the updated “Dragon Face 2.0” language, perfectly combining Eastern and Western aesthetics. Its interior features a panoramic skylight, automatic ambient lighting along with 90-110 degree adjustable rear seats. It comes in fuel-powered, hybrid and pure electric versions. Overall, Song Pro's smart technology and forward-looking aesthetics have redefined the standard for smart mobility and car design.

As well as the concept car and the Dynasty series, the BYD e-Series e1, e2 and s2 models also attracted a lot of attention at the fair. The three inherit the genes of BYD's new international design team. The e1 is positioned as a cost-effective electric compact car, built using the BNA, BYD and DiLink Intelligent Network platform, with low running costs – 0,05 RMB (0,007 USD) per kilometer – while providing enough charge for 100km in just 12 minutes .

The s2 is an intelligent SUV in all aspects, offering a range of 305 km and taking just 15 minutes to charge for 100 km of range. The e-Series also comes equipped with rich, fun and intelligent networking functions, which means they offer superior quality and a higher price/performance ratio. Their leading technologies, stylish designs and smart features make them an attractive buy for younger consumers.

BYD adheres to its “technology based on innovation” concept. With solid strength in R&D and innovative development model, it has achieved comprehensive development, playing a decisive role in many fields such as automobiles, railway transportation, electronics and renewable energy (solar and energy storage) related businesses.

In the automobile sector, BYD ranked first in global electric vehicle sales for four consecutive years (2015- 2018) and its electric vehicle footprint can be found in more than 300 cities in more than 50 countries and regions around of the world. BYD “Pioneer in clean energy solutions” Global clean energy giant, BYD is the largest global manufacturer of lithium-iron batteries and electric and plug-in vehicles (from 2015 to 2018).

With over 240 employees distributed across 30 factories around the globe (with 20 research engineers who have already developed over 24 patents), BYD is also the second largest supplier of components for cell phones, tablets and laptops in the world to other global brands. The company was considered one of the 15 companies that are changing the world for the better, “Change The World” by Fortune Magazine, and in 2016, it won the UN Zero Emission Eco system award, among other international awards.
