A BYD Brazil inaugurated, in Campinas (SP), this Tuesday (18), its new production line for photovoltaic modules in the country.

The event was attended by the mayor of the municipality, Dário Saadi (Republicans), from the company's global executive vice president, Stella Li, as well as other authorities and press vehicles, including the Canal Solar.

The new facilities received a major renovation of their equipment and processes such as multi-busbar, half-cell, 1/3 cut cell, micro-gap and negative-gap.

With this, the company will begin marketing a new line of high power modules, mono and bifacial, ranging from 450W to 670W.

With the expansion of the project, it will also be possible to laminate and encapsulate conventional or double-glass modules.

Another notable fact is that the expansion and transformation of production processes guarantees BYD the possibility of the company tripling its capacity to reach 500 MW – enough to supply a city with 750 thousand inhabitants.

“The world has been investing heavily in the expansion of renewable energy sources and Brazil has enormous potential to consolidate itself as one of the main leaders of this energy revolution, since we have high solar irradiation, all the strategic ores for local industrialization and a lot of space for the growth of photovoltaic solar sources in addition to our mostly hydro and renewable matrix”, he said Adalberto Maluf, director of marketing and sustainability at BYD Brasil.

Dario Saadi, mayor of Campinas, in turn, said that he considers the diversification of the energy matrix to be a fundamental factor nowadays and that the municipality supports the promotion of the solar sector and other renewable energies. “The diversification of the matrix also needs to be efficient, otherwise it will not be consolidated. This is what this plant brings: greater productivity, as it will triple the production of more efficient and higher quality photovoltaic panels from the point of view of energy generation,” he said.

According to BYD Brasil, the new photovoltaic module production line represents a great achievement for the entire market.

The company had already shown that it is capable of designing high-power, high-quality modules, and will also be able to manufacture them on a large scale, with a level of productivity and efficiency identical to global standards.

Currently, BYD has all the necessary equipment to measure and certify photovoltaic modules developed in the Brazilian market.

“This way, we were able to certify our modules and others produced abroad, at BYD itself. With this, we gained a lot in agility, time, deadline, cost and also in quality”, concludes Taborda.

I worked in the automotive industry in Sumaré as a welder, assembler and body tinker technician and I would like to know how I can apply for jobs on the BYD assembly line

Truly, a great initiative from the local government and an extraordinary vision from BYD. It will certainly bring many opportunities to the locality and consequently to our country. Brazil only stands to gain from projects of this level, as do consumers, as the factory is very close to the consumer market. Congratulations to Canal Solar, for providing coverage of good news like this that only increases our prospects for good business!
