A ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) opens, this Friday (14), Public Consultation No. 047/2020 so that society can evaluate the proposal for the Call for Priority Energy Efficiency Projects, referring to the improvement of facilities in public or charitable hospitals.
The consultation, with a term of 60 days, will have a hearing and will be held via videoconference. The PEE (Energy Efficiency Program), regulated by ANEEL and carried out by energy distributors throughout the national territory, is the largest source of resources for energy efficiency in Brazil, with investments of around R$570 million per year.
The program involves actions such as diagnosing electrical installations, replacing air conditioning units and light bulbs with other lower consumption equipment. And, as appropriate, the installation of own generation, such as, for example, solar plants and cogeneration systems.
“Due to the pandemic caused by Covid-19, many hospitals had to adapt, with emergency expansions in the number of hospitalization and ICU beds. Given their nature as an emergency construction, they may have been implemented without adequate attention to air conditioning, lighting and equipment efficiency criteria”, explained Sandoval Feitosa, reporting director of the process.
How will the project work?
The project for public and charitable hospitals will have two stages. In the first, large-scale energy diagnostics will be carried out. In the second, efficiency actions will be implemented in several beneficiary consumers. The deadline for execution will be 36 months.
