New data published report from IEA (International Energy Agency) point out that the number of jobs linked to the manufacture of renewable energy equipment goes more than double in the world even in this decade, jumping from the current 6 million to 14 million in 2030.
According to the Agency, this is a growth that will help to further promote the sector for the coming decades. The number of jobs in this area is expected to expand increasingly as energy transitions advance across the planet.
“The world of energy is at the dawn of a new industrial era – the era of clean energy technology manufacturing – that is creating huge new markets and millions of jobs,” highlights the study, which provides a global analysis of manufacturing of clean technologies, such as solar panels, wind turbines, electrolyzers for heat and hydrogen pumps.
In addition to the volume of jobs, the IEA survey further shows that the global market for the main mass-manufactured clean energy technologies will be worth near US$650 billion per year by 2030 - more of three times the current level – if countries around the world fully implement their announced pledges.
“If everything announced as of today is built, the investment flowing into the manufacturing of clean energy technologies would provide two-thirds of what is needed to achieve (worldwide) carbon neutrality,” he said. Fatih Birol, executive director of the IEA.
